Eduardo Clemente is the Executive Director of Standard Bank Angola and accepted the challenge of answering the Talent Magazine quiz about his inspiring career. Check his answers:
- Name: Eduardo Clemente
- Ager: 41
- Job: Administrador Executivo
- Company: Standard Bank Angola
- Years of experience: 18
- Relevant academic background: Degree in Business Organization and Management
- What was your motivation for following this path: I can’t remember well the moment or the exact reason that led me to choose that course. From an early age, I felt that the business world was where I wanted to be, I wanted to help solve problems, make decisions and make things happen.
- What does your job represent to you? My job is extremely important to me. I feel like it’s the vehicle that allows me to have an impact around me, add value and help leave something better than I found it.
- Most memorable professional moment (on the positive side): Having boosted a fantastic team that put together a hackathon in a short time, seeing the collaboration of this entire team, the fantastic challenge they organized, how they managed the two days of the event and the fantastic reaction of the winners, to whom we offered a year of professional internship.
- Most memorable professional moment (on the negative side): Honestly, I don’t have any negative moments that I can consider outstanding.
- Professional characteristics that best define you: Positivity, curiosity, quick decision-making, decisive and assertive. I like solving problems and creating collaborative and relaxed work environments. I consider good humor to be very important in professional life.
- In another life, what other profession would you have followed? Good question… I think one of three: either engineer, scientist or detective. All options are linked to solving varied problems and with real impact.
- Favorite movie:“Braveheart”
- Book you always recommend: I won’t say it’s mine 🙂 One of the ones I recommend most often is “Multipliers”, but I’ll add 2 others “The adaptation advantage” and “Leaders eat last”.
- Music or band of your life: I don’t have one, I like a lot of different music and groups.
- One sentences: “Every man dies, not every man really lives” from “Braveheart”.
- Hobbies: I like to read, watch series, movies and documentaries or play Playstation. I like to travel and discover new countries and cultures. I also like swimming and driving.
- In the future, how would you like to be remembered? What do you think your legacy will be? The greatest legacy I can leave is that of having an impact. Having added value, having helped train many people, leaving a legacy of leaders who have worked with me. I hope to have conclusively contributed to the creation of jobs and the improvement of people’s working and living conditions.
- Where you live, what recommendation do you have for first-time visitors: I live in Luanda and what I recommend for those coming here for the first time is to take a few days to really get to know the city (this is because most visitors arriving come to Angola on work), outside of more “normal” places, such as the island or the waterfront. There are companies that offer tours of the most emblematic neighborhoods and typical restaurants where you can enjoy fantastic Angolan food. If possible, go to a “sentada” or family gathering, to get to know the wonderful Angolan culture more closely. Of course, you can also visit Mussulo by boat. It is a city with fantastic energy, a great climate and happy people who welcome you with open arms.
- Retirement plans: I don’t have one, I don’t see myself retiring anytime soon. I like to be busy and have something to do. I don’t see myself stopping completely.
